Things have been looking up a little for me in my job search.
Over the past week, I’ve had positive feedback from two jobs that I had applied for. One, a marketing position, got me an interview that will take place on Monday and the other, which is for a translation position, got me to the next application stage. I had to send in a few sample translations, so hopefully I will hear back from them soon and get an interview there as well.
Earlier this week, I also heard from the company who I’d interviewed with back in February. In the end I didn’t get the position due to timing issues. Had I been here to start a month earlier, I would have gotten the job. And at the moment she cannot employ more people. A little bitter when you remember that last fall, I was considering moving here a month earlier than I eventually did. Yeah, it is how it is, but it is a bit of a shame. The director of the company is German and she asked if I wanted to meet up with her. I visited her at their offices earlier this week, and she ended up giving me some tips for my job search, and also told me she would ask around, speak to people in the industry etc. Basically, she is being very kind and going out of her way to help me find a job. I think it’s incredibly sweet and so unexpected. I mean, she doesn’t owe me anything.
So, some good news on the job search. Let’s hope that something good will come off one of these things. I have to admit that over the past two weeks, my applications have slowed down a bit, but that is also due to the fact that I’ve not really seen any suitable jobs to apply for. I am not going to give up, though, and there are still a few applications I am waiting to hear back on, so who knows.
Hopefully I will manage to get an interview for the translation position and maybe another one or two, and find a job soon. I’ve been unemployed for 33 days and I am dying to start working again.
