On bargains made

The last time N. was here, I pretty much made him watch an episode of Dexter with me. We usually have quite different tastes when it comes to TV shows, but I thought he might like Dexter, which is one of my favorite TV shows. I was right. I got him hooked and we ended up watching five episodes one day. Hah. We are halfway through season 1 and while N. is dying (hah!) to watch the rest of the season, he wants to watch it with me, so we’ve made plans to buy the DVDs and catch up on all the seasons (okay, maybe not all of them!) when he is here at Christmas.

Amazon.co.uk has been selling the season 1–5 box set for £35 which already seemed like a really good deal, but I knew that the Black Friday Deals Week was coming up this week and I said to N. that we should wait and see if they happen to have an offer on the box set. I got a couple of great offers last year, so I wanted to keep an eye on the deals anyway, and sure enough, there was a deal on the box set on today. I managed to snag it up for £24.50. What a bargain!

This morning I also had the thought cross my mind that since they did a deal on the Fitbit Aria scales yesterday, maybe they would do one on one (or more) of the activity trackers as well. And yup, you guessed it. They did one on the Fitbit Ultra today. A new version of the Ultra (The One) has just come out last month, but some quick googling told me that the differences were not significant (to me). I also figured that if Amazon are trying to clear their stock of the old version, the deal might be particularly attractive. So at 1pm I perched myself at the computer, cursor hovering over where the buy button would appear, and managed to get the Fitbit Ultra for £39.99. That is £30 off the current price and £40 (50%) off the RRP for the Ultra and The One (the current version). I’m thrilled I managed to get one for that cheap.

In case you are not familiar with the Fitbit, it is an activity and sleep tracker, sort of a fancy pedometer (managed to crack N. up with how I pronounced that earlier, heh) with some additional features – essentially a fitness gadget. And if you know me you know I love gadgets, but I could never justify the cost for what it does until now. At half price, I think I got a fantastic deal though, and I can’t wait to start using it. I’m having it shipped to N. so I will get it this weekend and can start using it after I’m back home next week. I hope it will give me some extra motivation to be more active and start exercising again.

I’m so pleased that I managed to get both the deals I wanted today, and I fear for my bank account balance if Amazon do any more fantastic deals like this in the next few days. I mean, I do still have a move to Scotland to save up for.
